The short version: Use Memkeep for your own shared memories. Don't post anything illegal or harmful. Because the app is end-to-end encrypted, what you write is your responsibility — we can't see it, but we won't tolerate the app being used to harm others. We provide Memkeep "as is" and do our best to keep it working.
1. Acceptance
By installing or using Memkeep, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.
2. What Memkeep is
Memkeep is a local-first, end-to-end encrypted shared journal app. It is intended for personal, non-commercial use — couples, families, and small friend groups keeping memories together.
3. License
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use Memkeep on devices you own or control, for non-commercial purposes, subject to these terms and any applicable Apple App Store or Google Play terms.
4. Your account and shared spaces
Memkeep accounts are generated locally on your device — there is no central sign-up. Shared spaces are created and controlled by their members. Anyone holding a valid invite link to a space can join it; anyone in a space can be removed by the space owner.
5. Your content
You own everything you create in Memkeep — your text, photos, notebooks, and comments. Because Memkeep is end-to-end encrypted, we can't read your content, and we don't claim any rights over it. You are responsible for the content you create and share inside the app.
6. In-App Purchases
Memkeep offers a consumable in-app purchase that unlocks an additional notebook or extends an existing notebook's photo capacity. Purchases are processed and billed by Apple App Store or Google Play. Refunds are handled by Apple or Google according to their respective policies — please contact them directly for refund requests.
7. Termination
You can stop using Memkeep at any time by deleting the app and your account.
8. Warranty disclaimer
Memkeep is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE", without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that data will never be lost. Because Memkeep is local-first and end-to-end encrypted, you are responsible for keeping a paired device available if you want to ensure your data survives the loss of any single device.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Memkeep and its developers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages — including loss of data, loss of profits, or business interruption — arising from your use of the app.
10. Changes to the service
We may add, change, or remove features over time. We may also change these terms — if we do, we'll update the date at the top of this page and, for significant changes, mention them in the app's release notes. Continuing to use Memkeep after a change means you accept the updated terms.
