What is Memkeep?

Memkeep is a private, end-to-end encrypted shared journal for couples, families, and close friend groups. You write memories together — text, photos, dates, locations — and only the people you invite can read them. There are no followers, no algorithm, no ads.

Where is my data stored?

Your memories live on your device first. When you're online, Memkeep syncs encrypted data to other devices in your shared spaces through our sync server. The server only ever sees ciphertext — even we can't read your memories. See the Privacy Policy for the full picture.

How do I invite someone to a shared notebook?

Open the notebook in the app, tap the members or settings button, and choose Invite. You'll get a one-time invite link — share it with the person you want to add. Once they open the link in Memkeep, they join the space and start syncing.

What happens if I lose my phone?

If you have another device already paired to your Memkeep account, your data syncs back to it automatically once you sign in. If your lost phone was your only device and you have no backup paired, your encrypted data is unrecoverable — we have no master key. We strongly recommend pairing a second device (e.g. a partner's phone in the same shared space) so you always have a recovery point.

How do notebook purchases work?

Memkeep is free to use with one notebook. If you need more storage, you can buy an additional notebook or extend an existing one's photo capacity through an in-app purchase. Payment is processed by Apple App Store or Google Play. Refunds are handled by Apple or Google directly — contact them through your purchase history if you need to request one.

Please tell us. Memkeep is built by a small team and we treat every email seriously. Include the device model and OS version if you can — it makes bugs much faster to fix.
